Land sales explained

Ohakune Ward councillors pointed out to other District Councillors last week that

Ohakune land being sold by the council was for industrial development purposes. Cr Compton had asked if the sale of Ohakune industrial land was to pay off council debts. "We're selling off land to develop the town, not to pay back debts," said Cr Thompson. "The money will all go into the industrial land account and only be used for industrial land," said District Manager John Murrihy. Administration officer Edith Moore told the council that the land had been bought specifically for industrial development and that the land was developed as need for industrial sites grew.
