Shelley Phillips and Maxine George, two top Waimarino netball players who are representing the Wanganui region this season. Shelley is playing in the under 16's rep team, who play in the Molly Dawn tournament in Levin in July. Maxine is playing for the under 18 rep team, who have played in a quadrangular tournament against Taranaki, Hutt Valley and Manawatu. Both devote a lot of time to their sport, with two practices each per week in Wanganui as well as the weekend games. They are the first Waimarino netballers in the regional union for 25 years.
