ORAUTOHA TEACHER LEAVING

Orautoha School Principal Derek Jensen is looking towards greater challenges when he takes up the position of principal at Ohingaiti School this week. Mr Jensen was principal of Orautoha for over four years. In that time the role increased from 14 to 25 pupils and the school progressed from sole charge to two teacher status. He is looking forward to the new position although admits he and his family will miss the many close friends they have made during their time in the Waimarino. The family were involved with the Baptist Church and with many community organisations. An appointment for his position has not yet been made. A mobile reserve teacher for the region will fill the position in the interim. Teacher Robin Olds will remain teaching at Orautoha School.
