Promotion group seeks members
The Ruapehu South Business Association is on a membership drive and some of its members are offering incentives to business operators to join. The association wants to build on the success of the Queens Birthday Weekend carnival and get more people involved in planning other promotion events and activities. Turnpage2
Promotion members From page 1 Turoa Skifields is offering a 25 per cent discount on one season pass to each paid up business member of the association, and the Powderhorn Ski Barn is offering 25 per cent discounts in their ski shop. The radio station Ski FM is also offering businesses $150 free advertising. Ruapehu Outback Adventures is offering a 20 per cent discount on a rafting trip or a horse trek. A subscription for a business to the association costs $100, and this must be paid by the end of June to gain the benefits offered. Association chairperson Sue Allomes said there were about 200 businesses in the area and all could benefit from being part of the group. At their meeting last Thursday the group decided to employ a permanent part time secretary to handle the clerical duties and help co-ordinate activities. The position will be advertised next month but in the mean time the group will employ temporary secretary to process membership applications and to call on businesses to seek members.
