Countdown to Telethon: two weeks

With less than two weeks to go to Telethon '88, Waiouru co-ordinator Raelen May is anxiously awaiting for further indications of activities. Some of the pretelethon activities already run include a sponsered swim by Lieutenant Corporal Roi Te Paa who swam 100 lengths of Burns Pool at the weekend and the very successful bike-a-thon on Sunday, Other Waiouru organisations who have indicated they will suppori the cause: Playcentre which is holding a child abuse seminar on June 23; they also intend to run a cake stall at the community centre on Telethon Sunday; Pinetree Motors are holding a children's party complete with clowns this Saturday June 18; staff of the Silverfern Restaurant will be donating their time to man phones throughout Telethon weekend; the AGI is donating the use of televisions at the community centre and will be running a children's poster competition; Waiouru Hairdressers will be opea for business all day, until 7pm Telethon Saturday
