Raetihi still winning

Raetihi rugby seniors continued their winning season by defeating Bulls 20 points to 6 on Saturday. The game was played early at Raetihi on Saturday to avoid clashing with the test. The Raetihi front row played reasonably well and had the better of the Bulls pack event though they were a lot heavier. Both sides made too many handling mistakes, but the Bulls big men didn't prove their worth. The run of play was fairly even in the first 20 minutes then the Raetihi forwards started to dominate. They won more ball and gradually got on top with more possession. It was a good game for 1st five eight Gavin Johnson and half back Stephen Wallis. Bulls Flanker Darryn Smallman, No 8 Peter Woolston, fullback Miles Ward and winger Nick Bligh were the pick of the bulls players on the day. Nick Bligh in particular saved Bulls on numerous occasions tackling and taking high ball. Raetihi tries were scored by Steve Wallis (2), Caton Te Moana, and Thomas Wa ara. Two conversions by Gerrard Hipango. Bulls' points came from the boot of Mark Dunn with a drop kick in the first half and a penalty in the second. Waiouru vs Marist seconds In an uninspiring game by the account of one of the Waiouru players, Waiouru beat Marist Seconds 15-0 on Saturday. The Marist forwards played well but their backs couldn't touch the ball down. For Waiouru the forwards held their own and the backs dominated. Shaun Thomas and Pita Lloyd were tops for Waiouru. Try scorers were Shaun Thomas, Shane Dawson and Rick Tawhiri. Pita Lloyd kicked a penalty goal. Waiouru meet rivals Raetihi next Saturday but the Waiouru side looks set to be depleted. Up to nine players may be unavailable due to various Army commitments. Armoured vs Ohakune Karioi Snr Res. Ohakune Karioi didn't have the strength or fitness to match Ar-

moured on Saturday. Armoured won the game 30 points to 9. The Ohakune Karioi team didn't give it away, they put in what they could but the much heavier and fitter Armoured were superior and dominated the play. Tries for Armoured were scored by Tezlass (3), J Pukutapu (2), J Barklay (1), Tamati (1) converted. Ohakune Karioi Snr Reserves' points came from a penalty from Willy Wilson, a try by

Henry Mott and a conversion by Henry Wilson. For Armoured Hoffman was good at lock and took some good line-out ball. Jason Hern, fullback, and Rangi O'Callaghan, halfback both had good games. Ohakune Karioi vs Huia Lee Turnbull's kicking won Huia the game against Ohakune Karioi on Saturday. He kicked three penalty goals and two

conversions. Ohakune Karioi being the fitter team did not help them and they went down 21 to 17 points. Ohakune Karioi dominated the play in the first half although Huia took a lot of lineout ball. As well as Huia's Lee Turnbull No 8 Paul McCarthy played well till he was injured and centre Victor Chase had a good game. Kellick Harding

stood out from both sides and played a great game, Brendon Wilson played well at full back and Ray Brown did well setting up tries. Huia points came from tries by Paul McCarthy and Victor Chase and kicking by Lee Turnbull. Ohakune Karioi tries were scored by Richard Mathews, Steve Tipene and Brendon Wilson Kellick Harding kicked one conversion and Lachlan Harding kickec a penalty goal.
