'Run the ball' decision pays off

A pep talk from coach Ken George on the direction Ohakune Karioi were going paid off on Saturday with the team beating Utiku Old Boys 21 points to 6. The discussion pointed out that the team weren't commit- - ting themselves to the game and they worked out the style of rugby

that best suited them. The team decided they wanted to run the ball more. Even though the team is older than the average Utiku player the forwards lifted their game on Saturday and played at a much quickcr pace. With more commitment Whetu Mariekura was given more good ball and he lifted his

game speeding up his service. All the Ohakune Karioi tries came from the forwards, with Kellich Harding^scoring three and Steve Cameron one. Lachlan Harding kicked one penalty and one conversion. For Utiku Adrian Bull scored one try with Karatau converting. Coach Ken George named Steve Tipexxd,
