Waimarino shooters prominent
After a slow start to the 1988 season, the Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club has now resumed its activities and are very keen to hear from anyone interested in taking up this very competitive sport. The 1987 year was a very fruitful year for Club members who were prominent at many competitions. At the Wanganui Open Championships, Ken Summerhays won the 'B' grade Open as well as being the District Champion for that grade while Matt Williams was the District Champion for the 'C' grade. Bob McGinnis received a 'B' grade representative ribbon from the Wanganui As-
sociation. Lynette Maru represented the North Island in the North Island Ladies Team in the annual North v South shoot. The Club was very pleased to be able to present another 100 Club badge - this time to Ken Summerhays for his achievement. At the Municipal Club Open Medal Shoot held recently, Bob McGinnis won the 'A' grade competition and was placed 3rd in the 'B' grade, as well as winning the marksmen's medals. That competition also saw young Aaron Summerhays being placed third in the 'D' grade. Last weekend John Scobie and Ken sum-
merhays represented Wanganui at the annual Teams of Ten competition held at Levin. This is regarded as the premier event of the year within Associations when teams of ten shooters from all the North Island Associations compete shoulder-
to-shoulder. The Wanganui team however, was not in the top few places. For more information of the Club and nights when the Club is active, please contact Ken Summeerhays 54104, Bob McGinnis 58-553.
