Dedicated young rider
Tania Taylor, riding her 10 year old Thoroughbred gelding Count Donegal won the A1 Dressage at the New Zealand Pony Club Horse Trials Championship held at Cambridge May 22-23. Forty-six top New Zealand Pony Club horsemen and women qualified from their areas to compete in the senior division for the Elaine Knox Thompson Challenge Cup. The smallest area's representative rider, Tania, took the lead from Amanda Smale of Taranaki with a superb test and a score of 2967.
The last time the King Country camp were at the top was when Alistair Robinson of Taumarunui riding his horse Spider won the A1 Division two successive years, 1972 at Masterton and 1973 at Taranaki. Tania is competing at Taupo this weekend in the young riders section of the National Three Day Event.
