Top bands and the latest in lighting effects are lined up for this winter at the Hot Lava Night Club. Owner Mr Paul Beckett is making arrangements with "top acts" from Australia and new New Zealand to perform at the club. Bands include Syd-ney-based The Johnnys, who came over for the Cyclone Bola concert at Western Springs, The Narcs, The Fan Club (formerly Soul on Ice) and When the Cats are Away. Mr Beckett has bought a whole range of "new generation" theatrical lighting from Japan. Among the more spectacular items will be a telescopic light straight out of the recerit Pink Floyd concert in Auckland. The club is being altered in time for the ski season. The upstairs cocktail bar is being soundproofed from the general auditorium, giving people a quite place to talk and "have a break".
