SHOP CHANGES HANDS
Ohakune's Waimarino Wines is under new _ management. New manageress Diane Pritt (above) took over at the beginning of the week. Former owner Gill Akroyd 'retired' after five years in the business. Mr Akroyd will still work at the shop two days a week. Miss Pritt is president of the Waimarino Wine Club and has been a member since its formation in 1979. She acquired an extensive knowledge of local and imported wines in that time. Miss Pritt is keen to extend the business, whilst maintaining the wide range of wines already available. "We've dubbed it The Best Little Wine Shop in the Country'." To celebrate, the Waimarino Wine Club is holding its annual public wine tasting demonstration on the premises this Sunday, May 22 at 7.30pm. The event is an opportunity for local people to quaff wines they would otherwise never sample, as well as a membership drive for the club.
