College soccer loss

The College 1st soccer team were beaten 5.1 by Turangi at home last Sunday. It was a very 'hacky' game from the start. It seemed the main intention was for both teams to just kick the ball forward. The College were the first side to score with a brilliant goal by Junior Kaata. A good run down the left wing by Jason Langdon pro-
duced a cross which found Kaata on the edge of the area. His first time shot powered past the goalkeeper for his side to go 1.0 up after fifteen minutes. The home side kept applying the pressure and a run through the centre by Brendan Gammeter saw his shot rebound off the far post. More precious chances were missed by the College side and they paid the penalty
minutes before half time when Turangi headed in the equalizer. It was a different game when the two teams came out for the second half. Turangi found theconfidence and composure to exploit the College with good passing and soon went ahead due to lack of support in the home side's midfield. Turangi played as a team capable of winning the league this year. If the College had made use of their chances the scoreline may have been different, but it's the goals that count.
