Parent involvement heartening
I would like to write a few words of appreciation of the high standard of pre-school education being given at the Raetihi Play Centre. In these days when so many parents put work
and social engagements before the well-being of their children, it is heartening to see that some still consider their involvement in their children's preschool education is important. Play Centre parents are willing to give time and money to the allround development of their children. Over nearly 30 years local parents have built up a service that is unique in the district. Not only is it an early education centre, but it is becoming a family centre where newcomers and young parents can make new friends and relax with their children. A quote taken from the April issue of 'North and South' shows how much parents gain from their association with Play Centre. It is from an article on the N.Z. authoress, Pamela Allen. 'She joined Birkenhead playcentre, where she first became aware of the influence of children's books. She found the Playcentre movement very beneficial, encouraging good parenting skills and
expanding her perception in educational areas.' Parents considering pre-school education are welcome to call any time the centre is open,
to see for themselves the excellent facilities set out in the large indoor area and the outdoor play equipment. Raetihi Play Centre deserves support.
