WHY CITY RATES?

Why are the rates so high in Ohakune? As a newcomer to Ohakune I am amazed to find that the rates on a house in Shannon Street are higher than the rates on a house in a good

area of Wanganui with more services provided. Can someone tell me how this has come about? I hope they are not going to go any higher!
