MAORI CHAIRMAN ELECTED

Mr Mark Cribb has been elected chairman of the Ruapehu Maori Committee for the next three years. The committee had its three-yearly general meecing last week on the Raetihi marae. An upheaval occurred on the committee recently when Mr Darcy Mills, chairman for 19 years, resigned. Mr Owen Lloyd the new vice-chairman and Mrs Bubs Hibbard secretary. The committee serves the six maraes in the Waimarino area - Pipiriki, Raetihi, Maungarongo, Tirorangi, Waiouru and Raketepauma.
