One day pony event
The Waimarino Pony Club hosted a most successful One Day Event at Mr and Mrs Ian Roke's 'Otiranui' property on Saturday March 26. The Cross Country Course had recently been remodelled by professional course builder Glen Wakeling of Kaitieke and was an extra challenge for all riders. Donations of big logs, posts and trees combined with expertise and the hard work of local members have given the area a first class course. Good entries were received in all classes and results were: Introductory Class: Dressage - 1st Sally Williams, 2nd Marni McGregor, 3rd Vanessa Enright; Overall - 1st Sally Williams, 2nd Marni McGregor, 3rd J. Davis. Pre-Training Class: Dressage - 1st Julie Pearson, 2nd P. Revell, BRIDGE Results 30/3/88 North-South 1st R. Martin/P. Kennedy 59.1%, 2nd J. McLean/V. Wiggins 58.7%. East-West 1st B. Eades/R. Frew 64.2%, 2nd J. Eades/S. Eades 58.3%.
3rd Julie Pearson; Overall - 1st equal Julie Pearson, Natasha Richards, Carla Stratford. Training Class: Dressage - 1st Julie Pearson, 2nd equal Cynthia Taylor and R. Wills; Overall - 1st Cynthia Taylor, 2nd Julie Pearson, 3rd Cindy Langdon. The trials classes also had good entries from which the King Country team who are to attend the N.Z. Pony Club Championships at Cambridge in May was selected. The local Pony Clubs are delighted that half of the team is made up
of local riders. The team is: Tania Taylor, David Wilson, Tonia Shields, Rodney McCoubrie, Brendon Hill and Maria Fredrickson. Results were: D.C. Dressage: 1st Rodney McCoubrie, end Brendon Hill, 3rd Kerri Stratford. Overall: 1st Rodney McCoubrie, 2nd Brendon Hill, 3rd Maria Fredrickson, 4th Kerri Stratford. A1 Dressage: 1 s t Tania Taylor, 2nd David Wilson, 3rd Tonia Shields, 4th Cynthia Taylor. Overall: 1st Tania Taylor, 2nd Tonia Shields, 3rd David Wilson, 4th Cynthia Taylor.
