Empty Page explained
This page with the funny name will be a regular feature of the Waimarino Bulletin in future. The Empty Page is a newspaper exclusively for Waiouru. Today 's page is here by way of introduction only for the benefit of non-Waiouru readers and advertisers. From next week the page will, in fact, re-
appear as a separate wrap-around section of the Bulletin circulating just to Waiouru homes and the Army camp. Readers not in Waiouru who want the special section, which will range from four to 12 pages weekly, must obtain their copy direct from the Bulletin office at Ohakune. Last week The Empty Page appeared at Waiouru for the first
time and will resume from next Tuesday in its independent format. The Empty Page has been started as a community service by Ruapehu Publishers Ltd in response to public demand for a return of the township's old-style weekly news-sheet. Circulation has been confined to Waiouru in order to keep production costs and thus advertising rates down.
For more than 20 years until late last year the Army has produced a weekly newsletter containing community notices, military announcements and commercial advertising. The "new" Empty Page has picked up the old title and aims to follow the old style. It's complete with free community "What's On" notices such as
those printed in the lefthand column. Our new agents for the Empty Page are Mainstreet Music and Video in the shopping centre and the ATG Education Section in Powles Avenue opposite the Waiouru Movie Theatre. Phone your advertising and editorial inquiries to Pauline Truscott or Denise Boyd at Mainstreet 56-868.
