Golf Club sign on hold

Waimarino Golf Club's application to erect a sign advising passersby of the course location was referred to the county's town planner from the final meeting of the Waimarino County Council last week. The club has applied to erect a sign on land belonging to a neighbour of the golf course. "Anything to do with signs seems to be awkward to handle." said councillor David Griffiths. Before deciding to refer the matter to the town planner councillors debated whether the golf course was a public utility. The district scheme allows for signs that advise the public of the whereabouts of public utilities.
