RAETIHI GARDENS
A bequeath of $1000 has been accepted by the Raetihi Borough Council and will be used to establish a rose garden at the Raetihi Cemetery. The money was bequeathed to the council by the late Helen Punch. "Council is tremendously grateful for the bequeath and we are happy to use the money for a project that she would have liked to see," said mayor Garrick Workman. Mayor Workman also made comment at the council meeting on March 21 of the borough gardens and the work the borough supervisor Craig Ryland and his staff have done. "This town has never looked nicer," said Mayor Workman. Councillors discussed the various projects the works and reserves staff have undertaken, including the Ohakune Road entrance to Raetihi. Two motions were carried at the meeting to express council appreciation for the work, one thanking Winstones for donating the ponga logs that were used in the proiect.
