HOLIDAY FOR FLOOD CHILDREN

Children from flood stricken East Coast areas are in for a treat if Raetihi School Principal Geoff Lovegrove gets his way, Mr Lovegrove and others have been trying frantically to sort out transport problems to bring about 35 school children to the Wiamarino for an Easter holiday, as a break from the disaster area and to give their parents a bit of breathing space in the clean up efforts. So far enough families have been found to host the children and about $700 has been raised to pay for transport from and to Taupo. Mr Lovegrove said Air New Zealand, the Air Force and the Army were approached to help out. All were sympathetic but because of Easter travel commitments were unable to help. At the time the Bulletin went to print Mr Lovegrove said it looked like the Gisborne Lions Club were going to handle their end of the transport.
