MAYOR TREKKING

By now ex Ohakune Mayor Bill Taylor should be hefting his pack for the three day trek from the capital of Bhutan to his home for two years, Gaylegphug. Mayor Bill left Ohakune on Saturday, after several fairwells, for Auckland. He was to fly to Australia then on to Bombay, then Calcutta, then to Bhutan to arrive about Tuesday. From reliable sources the Bulletin heard that he had no serious hold-up in Auckland due to the industrial trouble there. Mr Taylor expects to be back in Ohakune in November 1989, when he may contemplate reentcring local government. At the last Borough Council meeting on Thursday he commented that he and Councillor Ben Goddard may be needed on council then "to mop up the mess"!
