Family missing Ohakune Information authority delegated
I would like to take this opportunity of wishing Mr Woods and his family a very happy stay in the Waimarino. As past residents of Ohakune, we can recommend the town to you. After 18 months back here in Christchurch we miss Ohakune and its friendly people very much. We hope to be able to visit the region later in the year. We are delighted with the new look Bulletin and wish to continue receiving the paper. We would also like to see the name "Waimarino" kept as it is part of the heritage of that area. Wishing you all at the Bulletin every success. June de la Mare Hospital and health Regarding your front page article (8/3/88) concerning the Raetihi public meeting to discuss the Wanganui Area Health Board's Strategic
plan, might I point out that the resolution passed unanimously called for the board to guarantee "to continue the level of local hospital services and care that exist at present This was quoted correctly in the body of the article. However, the introduction stated "... has been called to guarantee the present level of health services for the Waimarino." That is incorrect! There is a world of difference b e t w e e n "hospital services" and "health services", and those at the meeting unanimously voted with "hospital services" in mind. Fr Bob Peck Missed Point As a reader of your paper I note that N.A. Scarrow accuses previous letter writers o f i
criticism of Mr Harvey Bell. N.A. Scarrow has missed the point - previous writers were concerned for the name "Waimarino" only.

Information from the new Waimarino District Council will now flow freely. Waimarino District Manager John Murrihy recommended to the WDC Steering Committee last week that all staff be authorised to answer public requests
for information under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987. He said this authorisation was necessary to make the act workable. He said he would use his discretion on controversial matters or refer to council. Cr Sue commented that the Ohakune Town Planning meeting o n Thursday March 3 was
run adhering to the act. "I as chairman thought that discussion and debate would be stifled, but that didn't occur and I believe all the applicants were in attendance
while we debated." "I'm quite amazed to hear it," said Cr Taylor. The committee agreed to delegate the authority as Mr Murrihy recommended.
