Twilight Gala

Raetihi Primary School broke all tradition and held their annual twilight gala in brilliant fine weather on Wednesday March 2. In previous years bad weather has threatened the gala and kept people away. This year however crowds flocked to enjoy the efforts of the Special Gala Committee, staff and children who had all worked very hard to create a family treat. The entertainment included mini motorbikes, a water slide, egg throwing competition, quick fire raffles, tractor rides, pony rides, face painting and the vintage fire engine doing its circuit. Proceeds are to pay for extra reading and sports equipment throughout the school. Principal Geoff Lovegrove is "absolutely thrilled" with the $3,500 raised. He attributes this to "a good team effort" and "the generosity of local businesses donating goods for prizes."
