GARDEN COMPETITION
Waiouru Ministry of Works boss Bryan Jackson is cleaning up the town, starting with his own back yard. Mr Jackson is this year's winner of Waiouru's annual garden competition and takes the prestigious Cariappa Shield. The shield was first presented in 1956 by the Indian High Commissioner to New Zealand, Major General K.M. Cariappa and has been contested ever since. "Of course I'm excited - I've spent a lot of time getting the garden looking good," he said. Results Bryan Jackson (1), D.J. Forrest (2), WOl N.M. Webb, Major M.J. Graham (highly commended).
