We're still waiting...

The Railways Corporation and the developers of Ohakune's proposed railway housing scheme are no closer to deciding whether they will continue with the development. Both parties met on Friday according to KRTA Ltd spokesman Malcolm Smith. He declined to comment on the outcome of the meeting but said the decision was made to not appeal against the conditions laid out by the council.

The matter now rests with Railways who are still considering the financial implications of the conditions, says Mr Smith. He was unsure how long it will be before a decision is made. "You can appreciate that a body the size of the Railways Corporation takes some time to finalise matters". Both parties plan another meeting in a fortnight's time to discuss the matter further.
