Rail project hold
Railway housing spokesman Malcolm Smith said KRTA Ltd and New Zealand Railways Corporation have yet to decide whether they will continue with the proposed 'Ohakune Mountain Housing' development since receiving notification of the conditions of approval last week. Mr Smith said a special meeting of developers will
be held this Friday to "investigate the implications of the conditions". Earlier at the town planning meeting held in Ohakune Mr Smith told council that they would accept all conditions laid out. The development, he said, would proceed in four stages with each stage tak-
ing up to two years but with good market demand this time could be reduced. the engineering work needed at the site would be staged with the arrival of houses onto the proposed land in Ruapehu Road. See page 17 for a full report on the Ruapehu Road-Dreadnought Road project.
