Raetihi support

A support group recently set up by the Wbakangahau Trust Centre in Raetihi will be m a k i n g themselves available to community health groups, to assist with social issues in the Waimarino. Co-ordinator Bill Pehi said it is not the group's intention to work against established health related organisations, but rather to work in conjunction b y "filling in the gaps" and inforifting people w h o don't already know about the services. The areas they will b e most involved in are drug and alcohol abuse, truancy and crime, sexual abuse and neglect, and health (from the Maori perspective). The Trust will work in an advisory capacity on matters relating to Social Welfare, the Labour Department, Inland Revenue and the Housing Corporation. Their aim will be to assist where possible-or otherwise refer people to other groups.
