Close win for 'Anything'

Sharon Binzegger urged her basketball team 'Anything' into a very close win over 'Elite Macs' last weekend. A fan'astic defence was played b y Eraldine Sue, a first time basketballer. It was great to see past Karioi player Christina Kaiwhare back in the game. She managed to notch up 10 points for their team. The half time score was 21 all. Annette McDonnell scored the first basket for 'Elite Macs', then for the next 17 minutes it was all 'Anything' with Sharon, Christina and Frank Matangi scoring and gaining a 36-25 point lead over 'Elite Macs'.

Sharon called a time-out in the last three minutes, which was a brilliant move for a coach to make, because the pressure was on the 'Macs' and the time against them. They had just under two minutes to close the gap and excellent shooting by Thomas Waara scored 9 points before the bell. Final score 36-34 to 'Anything'. Results Unique 36, Dunkers 53 (J); Anything 18, Tigers 22; Staff 93 (J), Light Shades 31 (J); Elite Macs 45 (J), Light Shades 19; Staff 73 (J), Tigers 35 (J); Elite Macs 34 (J), Anything 36 (J). T.
