Last stamp for post office

No marches on Parliament, no petitions, no letters to the Editor. Just a few letters to MPs, and much sadness accompanied the closure of the Ohakune Junction Post Office last Friday. Relieving NZ Post worker Mrs Yvonne Campbell said there was little protest as most customers had seen the writing on the wall long ago. Before closing there were 14 private boxes and six people who collected their mail over the counter at the post office. Mrs Campbell said many people visited the Post Office on Friday to post letters as souvenirs and reminisce about the 'old days'. Junction customers will now have to use the New Zealand Post office in Clyde Street, Ohakune.
