Driver menace

"Idiots driving vehicles" are causing problems in Raetihi. The Raetihi Borough Council tabled a report at their last meeting ' that stated there are under-age drivers of qars and threewheeler trikes driving around the Borough as well as vehicles tearing up roads and verges. One councillor reported knowing of a 12-year old

child driving a car within the Borough. Councillors expressed concern that there was no replacement traffic officer for the Waimarino while resident traffic officer Ian Harrison was on leave for six weeks recently. It was suggested that a letter be written to the Ministry of Transport advising them of the problem and requesting support in the future.
