Cancer Socy tribute

At a recent meeting of the Waimarino Cancer Support Group, Mr Robin Brassington, Executive Officer of the Central Districts Division of the Cancer Society paid tribute to the outstanding community service given by Mrs Wyn McCarthy in her role as co-ordinator of the local group. Mrs Betty Longcroft, well-known in the Waimarino as the recentlyretired Principal Nurse of the Waimarino Hospital, has kindly offered to take up this role and she will continue to be most ably supported by Mrs Val Parkes of Ohakune as her deputy.

Members heard a little of the TV presentation, "Cancerline", and of the visit in early 1988 of Dr Paul Hamilton, founder of the parallel American movement "Cansurmount". In conclusion Mr Brassington presented a video on death and dying made by Dr Elizabeth KublaRoss, the well-known American expert in that field.
