Senior citizens' trip around
The senior citizens of Raetihi and Ohakune were treated to a shopping trip to Taumarunui on Wednesday. The Raetihi group joined the Ohakune folk at the Lions Den and were transported free of 'charge by McLachlan's Coach Services for the afternoon outing. After taking advantage of being able to do some Christmas shopping the senior citizens were taken to the Owhango Hotel for a lavish afternoon tea o f scones and pikelets topped
with lashings of whipped cream. On their return to Ohakune about 6 p.m. they each received a small gift, having already received a delightful floral spray as they left for their jaunt earlier in the day. The Ruapehu Lions Club sponsored the outing and finished the day with a bountiful three-course dinner prepared by Brian Dowsett and his band of merry men, before delivering each senior citizen to their individual homes.
