Lions' auction called off
Public response to an appeal from Ruapehu Lions for auctionable items was so poor that Saturday's auction was cancelled. The auction was intended to raise money for lifesaving equipment for the Ohakune and Raetihi Fire Brigades. Lions members expressed disappointment at the apparent lack of interest displayed by both communities. A newsletter outlining the appeal was circulated to the majority of residences within the Waimarino last week.
