Ohakune pool open soon
The Ohakune Borough Council has employed a pool custodian and Ohaku ne's s w i m m i n g baths are due to be open by 5 December, after work is completed cleaning out the changing sheds. The borough council heard at the meeting held last Thursday that the sheds have been host to birds since last summer and that there is a mess o f droppings to clean up. Ruapehu College students
are to be involved in cleaning the sheds as part of their community work programme. At the meeting council discussed the state of the paint-work in the pool. Councillor Thompson said it was in need of a new paint job and he supplied council with prices for the job. Among the prices was an offer from the Ruapehu Lions to paint the pool for $300. Mayor Taylor suggested that the pool leaseholders might foot the bill for the work. After some discussion it was decided that as the baths could operate as they were and that the leaseholders' plans for a new complex on the site could take effect soon, the baths would not be painted.
