Senior citizens meet
Ihe rooms oi the Waimarino Ciub were the scene of a very happy gathering recently when the Raetihi Senior Citizens hosted 42 members from the Taumarunui Senior Citizens' group. This is an annual "return" event, with the Raetihi group visiting Taumarunui around April each year. Raetihi president, Mrs Eva Grossart, welcomed the visitors and invited all present to be seated for the lovely three-course meal catered for by Johny Nation of Ohakune, and served by the Rotary ladies. A singing group provided the afternoon's musical entertainment. Members were: Buddy Hawira, Natalie Arahanga (who also played the guitar), Stella Mills, Lou Brider and Mrs Julia Arahanga. Mrs Arahanga is the group's
"inspiration lady" and it is at her place that they meet each Monday night for their weekly sing-along, to sing "just for the love of it". Their numbers were much appreciated, particularly 'Naughty little mokopuna' and 'Oh he touched me'. These performers were followed by a very interesting demonstration and talk on the making and
dressing of china dolls by Dawn Donaldson. Afternoon tea was provided by members of the Raetihi Senior Citizens themselves, and Taumarunui President Ralph Hardistry brought the occasion to a close by thanking their hosts for the very happy day that had been enjoyed by all. Merle Jurgens
