In to win for gardener
The popular saying 'You have to be in to win', rings true for one lucky Ohakune man who recently won a major prize in a nationwide competition. Avid competitor Sam Hing said he regularly fills in quizzes and contests that feature in weekly newspapers including the 'Truth', but was "very surprised" to see his name in print proclaiming he was the winner of a fabulous greenhouse valued at $545. Mr Hing said he has had moderate success in competitions in the past and has won several minor prizes. The competition featured in an August edition of the 'Truth' and the results were published the following week. Mr Hing said that was the first he knew about his win. After waiting three weeks without any further notification from the paper he wrote to them, asking how he could claim his prize. One problem that existed when he finally received the 'Polygro' greenhouse was how to assemble it. "It took a LOT longer than one hour to put together, like it said in the instructions," he said. Mr Hing has also made
some modifications to the frame, to better withstand high winds and adverse
weather conditions. The greenhouse was slightly damaged in recent bad
weather but nevertheless, Mr Hing said he is delighted.
