Fun day on Sunday for Raetihi Baths
Carrot eating, wheelbarrow rides and novelty golf are just a few of the activities organised for this Sunday's Fun Day organised by the Waimarino Chills Off committee, as a major fund-raising venture to enclose the Raetihi Swimming Baths. A search is on in the Waimarino for teams of five people to compete in various activities that will be run in a circuit starting from Ski FM in Ohakune and finishing at the
Ohakune Club, taking in Tohunga Road, Valley Road and Raetihi. A first prize of $250 is up for grabs for the winning team and a video for the winner of the hole-in-one competition. Activities planned for the day include bike-riding, hockey stick and ball pursuit, skating and a pool competition (in Raetihi), with the possibility of clay bird shooting, smallbore rifle shooting and 3-wheel bike circuit if time permits.
Chills Off secretary Lance Langdon said an all-day telephone appeal is another way for people to support the cause if they are unable to take part in the teams competitions. Phone bases in Raetihi and Ohakune will be manned by volunteer Lions Club members. Mr Langdon said he is confident of a good turnout and complete support from the Waimarino. The day's activities and progress reports will be broadcast live on Ski FM.
