Information caravans here next week

AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) and its prevention will be the focus of the Waimarino Community Health Watch Committee during National AIDS Awareness Week, 1926 September. An information caravan run by qualified nursing officers and volunteer helpers will be in Ohakune on Wednesday and Thursday and in Raetihi Tuesday and Friday of AIDS week. As well as supplying information relevant to AIDS, and other STD's (Sexually Transmitted Diseases), extra services such as tests for blood pressure, diabetes, eyesight and hearing will be available to the public. Waimarino Public Health Nurse Leigh Berry said a number of activities are organised for the week, including a public meeting with a guest-speaker from the Wanganui Area Health Board, videos on AIDS

prevention, giveaways, and a limerick competition with prizes of pharmacy gift vouchers. An AIDS hotline featuring a taped message and information is also a possibility-

Mrs Berry will also be visiting senior pupils at Ruapehu College with a video and information concerning STD's as part of a resource kit compiled to complement National AIDS week.
