Getting A Motorcycle Licence
Riding a motorcycle is much more than "going fast in a straight line", says an Auckland traffic officer. Sergeant Mark Wright of Takapuna set out to show this in quite dramatic fashion at the recent Auckland Motor Expo. Using one of the most powerful machines pres-
ently available in New Zea-land-a Yamaha FZRT000he focussed particularly on braking demonstrations, showing, as he explained, "just how far it takes to stop if not done properly, or how quick braking can be when bikes are properly ridden." Another of Sergeant Wright's demonstrations in-
volved weaving through a set of cones (pictured) - quite a feat on a machine of the size and power he was using. He said the new graduated driver's licence introduced involved tests similar to those given in his demonstration. The exhibition also coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Ministry of Transport.
