Helicopter pilot survives crash

Wanganui Aero Works helicopter pilot Jim Reed Ohakune who is based in the Waimarino, managed to walk away from a disasterous helicopter accident which occured while Mr Reed was transporting manuka slash. The Bell Jet Ranger helicopter crashed onto farmland at Horopito, 15 kilometres north of Ohakune at around 3.45pm on Thursday. The helicopter was extensively damaged.
