Badminton

On 11 July a few players from the Ohakune Badminton Club attended an Open Badminton Tournament in Taihape. The players had great success, nearly making a clean sweep of the C Grade prizes. Results were as follows: Michael Edwards, Mens Single C Grade winner; Shaun Doyle Mens Single C Grade runner-up; Shaun and Michael Mens Double C Grade winners; Jocelyn Cranston Ladies Single C Grade winner; Jocelyn and Marie (Wanganui) Ladies Double C Grade winners; Jocelyn Cranston and Shaun Mixed C Grade winners. Kate Mathews, an Ohakune player, was last year's Ladies B -Grade run-ner-up in singles and run-ner-up in the Ladies BGrade Doubles with Jocelyn Cranston. An enjoyable day was had by all. The club is now looking forward to the Doreen Carter Memorial Tournament to be held at Waiouru on 25 July and hope for full support from club players.
