Trust funds for country children

Disabled children in the country are to be given a chance of having similar opportunities as those in towns, following a grant to the Rural Communities Trust. The grant comes from the Child and Youth Development Trust, which is distributing money collected through Telethon and has

given the Trust a grant of $5,000. "Country children who suffer from disability have not had the same advantages as town children have, mostly because of difficulties imposed by distance and poor communications," said Trust chairwoman Lorraine Storey. "Many children who can be helped to lead a fuller life within the community have been held back just because they live in the country. "This generous grant will go a considerable way toward providing better systems for them." The Rural Communities Trust assists country families and individuals, especially in the areas of education and health.
