"Chills off" plans
The recently restructured Chills Off committee have enthusiastically dived into their task of raising $120,000 to enclose the Raetihi swimming baths. Fundraising for the project has been on-going for over 18 months and the committee was recently restructured, after numbers dwindled to just three or four. The new 14-strong committee, led by Roger Parsons, still retains some of the original members and is already busy making arrangements for fundraising ventures, including a games evening and two. raffles. The games evening is
being organised for 24 July, to be held at the Waimarino Squash Club in Raetihi. Limited tickets for the evening will be available in the area in June. The groundwork to run two raffles is currently being undertaken by the committee. An all expenses paid trip to Christchurch in late November for the trotting and galloping Cups, with $1000 spending money is the first prize for one of the raffles. A similar trip to the Auckland Cup later this year, with $1000 spending money is to be the first prize of the other raffle. The next meeting of the Chills Off committee to discuss further details will be 9 June.
