Ohakune-Karioi beat Wanganui Pirates 16-7 at Spriggins Park on Saturday. Players Lachlan Harding, Griff Griffin, Hemi Mareikura and Kellick Harding scored tries for Ohakune. Wally Hansen scored a try and Nigel Paranihi kicked a dropped goal for Wanganui Pirates. Ohakune-Karioi led 4-3 at half time. Robin Pearson played for the team but had to leave the field because of injury. Waiouru beat Wanganui HSOB Seconds 12-8 in their game: Wiremu .Maunsell, W. Ruki and Roscoe Lawrence scored tries for Waiouru while Wanganui's tries were scored by Wayne Stratton and Ralph Sagote. Taihape Pirates went down to Raetihi 1 5-7 in their game. Shane Harvey scored a try, Thomas Waara a conversion and Geoff Fahey and Thomas Waara scored two penalty goals for Raetihi. Dean Noble scored a try and Hamish Harding a penalty goal for Pirates. The score was 3-all at half time with a good fight by Raetihi in the second half.
