Plunket seats scheme
The Raetihi Plunket society now owns 26 infant seats and 53 child iove seats for its car seat hire scheme, all of which are at present rented out. Scheme co-ordinator Anne Summerhays said the scheme is now selfsupporting and does not need to rely on fundraising to buy extra seats, although donations are always most welcome. The society has opened an account this year to cover replacements of old seas and this has $1000 on term deposit and any excess money from the scheme will go into this account. Anne Summerhays said it was disappointing to see so many seats being returned dirty. She feels a $5 cleaning fee will have to be enforced. Also hirers leaving the area or changing address without any notification to the coordinator are a problem she said. These problems are experienced by schemes throughout the country.
