Smallbore shooters in nationals
A group of marksmen from the Waimarino Smallbore Club fared well at a recent national shoot in Wanganui. Five club members attended the Municipal Open Shoot and performed well. Roy Walker gained 3rd place in 'D' grade, Tom Donaldson was placed first in 4C' grade and received his marksman's badge. Bob McGinniss and Ken Summerhays each received their marksman's badge and were placed 3rd and 5th respectively in 'B' grade. The only lady shooter in the group, Lyn Maru performed well but was unplaced in her event. Lyn was also a member of a representative Wanganui team who took part in a
shoot against Wairarapa recently. Local marksmen John Scobie and Barry Golding competed in the 'A' grade, with fellow team member Roy Walker competing in the junior grade. Wanganui emerged victorious with John Scobie attaining the second best score of the day. The Waimarino's club nights now include Wednesday evenings.
