Tractor safety
Over a third of all fatal accidents on farms are likely to be tractor accidents. The Accident Compensation Corporation says today that between 1980 and 1986 there had been 84 tractor fatalities in New Zealand. In an effort to prevent further accidents the Corporation in association with the Wellington Polytechnic Photography Class has produced a film targeted at people in the 12 to 29 age group. The Corporation said that in New Zealand tractor drivers tend to start young and it is necessary to instil correct driving procedures at an early age. The film "Fairy Godfarmer" features Gerald Bryan well known for his roles in the television progammes; "Open House"and "Worzel Gummidge". It is the second in a series of three aimed at tractor safety and will be available from ACC Rural Safety Consultants.
