School hall for Waiouru

Waiouru School's new hall is on its way to becoming a reality, with earthworks starting on the site shortly. A former communications building from the H MNZS Irirangi naval base is to become the new school hall. The building will be moved in three pieces to its new site between the junior and senior block of Waiouru School. A raffle of a trailer-load of groceries raised in excess of $700 at last weekend's Desert Fair, with all proceeds going towards the cost of refurbishing the building. A super raffle held earlier this year raised approximately $8000.
