Stylish ski lodge for village
A different type of ski lodge is being built at the front of Turoa Alpine Village this summer. The lodge, to be called 'Beechers Lodge', is being built by Miden Construction of Tauranga for Turoa Skifields, who are offering shares in the lodge to skiers.
The people who buy into the lodge will become 'club' members and will operate the lodge for their own use. This concept of lodge financing is working successfully with three existing lodges. The difference with this new lodge is that the accommodation will be divided into eight bedrooms each with an ensuite. Members will have the advantage of the privacy of their own unit while retaining the lodge life-style. The lodge is designed as up-market accommodation and will be a show-piece to people driving past or into Turoa Alpine Village. Most rooms will have an uninterrupted view of Mt Ruapehu as the lodge is at the front of the village. Turoa has employed Nancy van der Laan of Ohakune to sell the shares in
the lodge. She will be travelling about the country holding saies meetings to explain the features of the lodge to prospective buyers, with the help of the video tape prepared by 'Video' Bill Adams. 'Video Bill' came over from his summer residence in Sydney to make the tape. He is familiar with the region as he works on Turoa Skifields in the winter months producing video tapes of people skiing.
