Waimarino Rifle results
At the Waimarino Smallbore Rifle Club end if year function for 1986, prizes were awarded to the following;- Master Grade Champion, Barry Golden; A Grade Champion, Lynette Maru; B Grade Champion, Ken Summerhays; C Grade Champion, Bob McGinniss; D Grade Champion, Brian Morrissey; Junior Grade Champion, Leeanne Beavis; 100 Club badges, Barry Golden, Bob McGinniss. Competition was very close for the Master Grade
with Barry Golden's score of 973.37 just heading off John Scobie with 972.39. During 1986 the Club were delighted with the success of two members of two Queen's Championships held in Australia. The Queen's Championships are a bigbore shoot held outdoors and consist of 10 matches. Barry Golden competed at the Queensland Rifle Association Queen's Championship held at the Goldfields Rifle Club which is 300kms inland from Rockhampton in Queens-
land, Australia. There against 700 other competitors, he won the Duncan Aggregate gold medal in Match No. 5 by winning 1st place outright. He was placed 16th in the 'A' grade and 6th in the aggregate over a week's shooting. Barry also competed in the 15th Gem Shoot held at the Sapphire Rifle Club, Sapphire, in Central Queensland where all major prizes were gemstones donated by the local gem fossickers. He was first in the first stage aggregate of the 'A' grade and first in the gross aggregate of 2 matches in the 'A' grade. John Scobie competed at the New South Wales' Queen's Championships in Australia against 420 competitors and won a magnificent trophy for the highest aggregate overseas shooter.
